Miss Subie Stone, Founder & Director

Subie grew up on a farm in Hartland, Vermont and her parents now reside in Quechee, Vermont. She attended the University of Vermont for 3 years and was an avid field hockey player & skier. With Olympic dreams in sight, Subie found her way out West to pursue a talent in freestyle mogul competition in 1992. Subie finished her undergraduate degree at the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Science in Human Development. While working with young children, she discovered Maria Montessori and was fascinated by her philosophy. From that moment on she knew that she would eventually open a Montessori school. After completing a two-year Early Childhood Montessori program in California she fulfilled her dream and opened Little Miners in the fall of 2001. Subie is the proud parent of Bryce and Daisy Stone.

Miss Josie Souza

Josie was born and raised in Brazil. She is a certified Business Administrative from Senac Santo Andre college in Brazil with a background in Accounting and HR. Josie is passionate about kids’ education, especially Montessori and had her childcare facility in Brazil called Pintores da Alegria ( Painters of Joy). Josie moved to the United States in 2012 and in August 2018 she relocated from Mississippi to Utah with her two teenage boys, Felipe and Davi. Josie loves hiking, dancing, Crossfit, reading, dancing, socializing with friends as well as spending quality time with her two sons.

Mrs. Becky McCutcheon

Art Teacher

 

Becky was born and raised in New England and attended Middlebury College where she pursued athletics and earned her degree in art history. She spent the next decade following her passions for art, education, and adventure. She attended a photography school in Greece, taught kindergarten in Nepal and CA, and has taught 6 years of middle school art at independent schools. Becky enjoys outdoor pursuits and the mountain town lifestyle of Park City with her husband and three young children.

Alejandra was born and raised in Mexico City, She moved to park city.  She has been working in childcare for the past fifteen years, and currently is our infant care giver for Miss Liza’s son Henry. Alex loves the park city community! She loves music, dance and watching movies. Alex has two daughters of her own, Alexa and Angie.

Jules has spent the majority of her life in Park City, UT, moving to town in 1987 as a child and leaving only to earn a BA in Literature from Chapman University in California. She fell in love with Montessori philosophy after answering an ad in the Park Record for an Early Childhood Assistant position at a local Montessori school, earning her Early Childhood Teaching Credential in 2009. When Jules’ own children, Henry and Alice, were old enough to attend school she found Little Miners Montessori and knew she wanted to be there too! After being hired as an Art Teacher Jules is happy to now be a member of the Toddler Class teaching team. When not at school Jules loves to get outside with her children and her husband Michael; biking, hiking or skiing, depending on the season.

Miss Jennifer Brant

Jennifer was born and raised in Bakersfield, CA. In 2014 she moved to Midway to attend the Utah Valley University Wasatch Campus. After graduating with an AS Degree Jennifer moved back home to California where she completed her Ultrasound Technician Certification. Although loving the medical field, Jennifer has always enjoyed working with children. She is now part of our Toddler Teacher Team! When not at work Jennifer enjoys traveling, photography and spending time with her dog Baby.

Karen grew up in Salt Lake City and graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Business Management. She has spent 20 years training, teaching, and counseling adults. She finds teaching at Little Miners much more rewarding and loves spending her days with the children. Her hobbies include spending time with her family – especially her two darling grandsons, taking care of her pets, gardening, and knitting.

Miss Emily Brown

Emily spent most of her childhood in the White Mountains of New Hampshire and developed a deep passion for the outdoors. This passion led her to pursue an undergraduate degree in Environmental Science at Plymouth State University.  About two years ago, while working as an assistant in a Montessori toddler classroom, she found her devotion for the Montessori philosophy. Emily plans on attending Montessori training in the summer of 2021, to graduate and receive a Montessori Credential in Early Childhood Education. She is excited to be reunited with her brother John, who currently resides in Park City. Emily enjoys hiking, kayaking, traveling, reading and is looking forward to skiing, “The Greatest Snow on Earth!”

Mrs. Keshia Flinn

Growing up throughout the Utah Valley, Keisha took advantage of all the elements Utah had to offer. Whether that was climbing trees, camping or combing the mountains with her brother and two sisters. Keshia developed her love for working with children early on. Knowing this passion, she decided to continue her education and pursued a degree in Pediatric Psychology at Salt Lake Community College.  Blessed with two children, Keshia took a break from college to focus on family and raising her children. As her children grew older, she started a full-time daycare business in her home. While her  business grew, Keshia was offered an assistant teaching position and began working at the Waldorf School in Holladay, UT. Combining her love for the outdoors, care of heart and mind, creating and teaching, Keshia explored the opportunity of  Montessori education. Keisha is now part of the LMM Early Childhood classroom and is planning on attending a Montessori Certification program this summer.

Alicia grew up in Las Cruces, New Mexico the land of hot weather and spicy food!  She graduated from New Mexico State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology.  Alicia first learned about Montessori while working as an au pair in Italy.  She was fascinated by the philosophy and found working with children to be engaging and rewarding.  In August of 2018, Alicia moved to Salt Lake City where she dieced to pursue a teaching career.  Alicia plans to attend the Westminster Montessori program in the summer of 2020 to complete the training for Early Childhood Montessori Education.  In her free time, Alicia enjoys traveling, cooking, yoga, and hiking.

Hillary grew up in Salt Lake City and attended the University of Utah, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology.  She completed her Montessori training in the San Francisco Bay Area and has been teaching Early Childhood Montessori Education since 2000.  Hillary ran the LMM Art Program for 3 years before attending the Montessori Institute at Westminster College, where she graduated with her lower elementary certificate in 2018.  She and her husband Anthony have 2 sons, Kelston and Parker.

Miss Erica Nicole

Erika grew up in Salt Lake City and attended the University of Utah, where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work. She also received a Master’s Degree in Community Leadership at Westminster College.  After working with families at a school in Rose Park, Erika discovered her love for teaching. She began teaching Montessori in the Upper Elementary classroom at Elizabeth Academy in Salt Lake for three years before joining the Little Miners Lower Elementary program. When Erika is not spending time with her family, she enjoys swimming, snowboarding, and camping.

Mrs. Camille Allred

Art, Music & Enrichment Teacher

 

Camille loves art, music, and kids! She grew up in Salt Lake City and graduated from the University of Utah with a bachelors of art degree in elementary education. Camille owned her own preschool for 12 years, taught 3rd grade, as well as operated a Kindermusik/Musikgarden studio for 14 years. From 2015-2016 she taught upper elementary at Mountain West Montessori Academy.  Camille also worked with the Dyslexia Center of Utah. She is the proud mother of five grown children and looks forward to being a grandmother! Camille and her husband Clint live in Park City and enjoy hiking, skiing, cooking, gardening and playing the guitar!
